View Full Version : OT - International Calling Cards?

I need to make a couple of international calls from home this week. We have a bare bones phone plan, and calls to the UK are $2/min. I don't want to have to bump up to another plan, and bump it down - too much hassle and cost for a couple of 30 min conversations.

Where can I get a cheap international calling card w/decent rates? I've googled and found some sites, but am not sure if they're reputable or not.

TIA!

Try enjoyprepaid.com - I've found it very dependable. You get a card which you can use for any country.

We use one from ldpost.com
The specific one we use is called "peanuts LD" -- we mainly use it to call family in the UK and Ireland. It lasts forever! Very cheap!

If you have skype (skype.com) and your computer has a microphone you can call via internet and it's pretty cheap. Just an option. My overseas relatives say the sound is good too, when we call.

I don't have a mic, other than the built in one that is really crummy, so skype is out.

Check your large chain grocer. I found them with all the assorted gift cards for sale (e.g. BB&B, Outback steakhouse, etc). They had domestic and international, but upon closer inspection, they were from the same company and could be used for both domestic and international. Super cheap rates!

I use pingo.com. I'm not sure how it compares with the other cards mentioned above, but I found it fairly reasonable, and its very convenient to use (they have some cool on-line features like a speed dial list). Again, I can't vouch for how it stacks up in terms of price.

My husband frequently calls his father in Asia and he purchases long distance through a service called onesuite. It is at www.onesuite.com We have used this service for years - you buy the time online in an account and have a pin #. I don't use it, but my husband loves it and it is very cheap. If you check their web page you can see the rates worldwide. We have found this to be very reputable.

good luck!

yeah that!

we love onesuite and use it for all our long distance calls... in the US and international. using a local access number reduces the price over the 1-800 access number. i think i can use a couple dozen different access numbers and my home phone number is programed in their system so that i don't have to dial a pin/password number for calls from my house. here are some of their rates...

I used OneSuite for several years when my parents were living in Europe. I love it.

RY, if you still need this I have an International phone card I bought to use in Germany but was only able to actually call out on it a couple times. You can have the remaining time on it if you want.
