I've never used the attachment for the KitchenAid, so I can't comment on that. I do, however, have the Krups ice cream maker and really like it. I've heard good things about the Cuisinart ice cream maker, too. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I have the krups and MIL has the kitchen aid attachment. They both work well. The krups was a gift but I think I would get the kitchen aid only because it would be less to store (space is an issue at my house)

I have a Cuisinart one that I got at Ross for like $25. Works great! Love it for sorbets in summer. I came with a recipe leaflet that has a killer lemon sorbet recipe. I always get compliments on it when I serve it. . .garnished with raspberries and mint leaves.

*Sorry, currently dieting and got carried away with visual food porn for a minute.*

I don't have this - but it looks like fun - you could get the entire family involved

I love my Cuisinart. We got an extra bowl for it, too, so there is always one frozen and ready to go when we get on an ice cream roll in the summer.

We have that one and have given it as a gift. Never actually used it, though.... ;)

White Mountain ice cream makers are like the "Kitchen Aide Mixers" of the ice cream world. Well made and a very powerful motor. http://www.amazon.com/Rival-F69206-X-6-Quart-Electric-Mountain/dp/B00002ND6A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1244682961&sr=8-1

My parents bought us one and we've had it about 10 years now. Works great!! My Dad painted a clear sealant on the wooden bucket to make it last longer.

I just bought a cheap (<$25) Rival machine at Target a few months ago, and it works great. Easy to clean, operate, and doesn't take much room to store.

FWIW, I've only used it to make Hemp ice cream since DS1 is allergic to milk. I simply turn it on, pour in some chocolate hemp milk, and in about 30 mins we have ice cream.
