My crib was recalled, now what?

We have a Babi Italia Pinehurst purchased in July 2007. Our son is still sleeping in the crib and this recall just came out.

Now what do we do? I have no idea how long it will take to get retrofitted... But he needs to sleep in between!

we are in the same boat. and i bought the babi italia b/c the original crib i wanted was recalled from Jardine. ugh.

anyway. not sure how handy your DH is but my DH recently checked the hardware on the crib b/c it was getting stuck and making it difficult to put down the side rail. He did some jigging around and realized that the screw had come loose and so he tightened it up again. This was a few months before the recall notice.

So he is going to check the screw again. if he doesn't think it's safe we are going to either:
1. put DD in a pack n play to sleep
2. take the entire side rail out and put a bed rail up so that she can at least sleep in her crib without fear of entrapment
3. put mattress on the floor for her to sleep.

we haven't decided yet what we are going to do.
