My daughter started a little young (4 months) because she was underweight. My ped said to start her on rice cereal (which I mixed with breastmilk), then try sweet potato, then reg potato, then carrots, then applesauce. He was very specific about that order.

I started DS at 4.5 months. I started with rice cereal and then went sweet potatoes, carrots, squash. I tried the greens and DS did not like them. Then I went throught the stage one fruits and back to the green veggies.

I started with bananas. then other fruits and veggies. I never gave cereal, except to thicken fruits to teach her to eat more texture.

I started with pears, carrots, sweet potatos apples peas ... I will caution bananas they gave all 4 of my boys wicked belly pains and constipation. I still have to make sure Jack has pears the same day has bananas or he gets constipated

We also skipped rice cereal and at 6 ish months I did oatmeal. I make most of his food so I just grind the organic rolled oats before I cook them and add what ever fruit I have.

So far we've done rice cereal (which DD hated) and sweet potato (which DD seems to like.) I haven't decided yet what is next on the menu.

I don't think it matters. I think we started with banana.
