Okay, so DD is 6 months and just started on solid foods. I'd really like to make my own food but need some guidance. I can't find much info anywhere on when, what, and how much to give her (her pediatrician was even wishy washy on the subject!). And I'd love some tips on how to make specific foods. I tried to puree some green beans the other day, but they are so fibrous I knew there was no way she'd get them down. Are there any good all-in-one-books out there? HELP!

I have Williams-Sonoma's "Cooking for Baby" (http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/sku5344569/index.cfm?pkey=cctlcbkkid).

Now, I have not put it to the test yet as DD is just 16 weeks. But I like what I've read in it so far and am looking forward to trying it out.

I got a baby cookbook as a shower gift, I was already planning on making my own food, and I love the one I got! It's by DK, Annabel Karmel First Meals, $20. Here's the product #9780756603656. You should be able to type that number in or give it to a bookseller and find the exact book. It provides "recipes" from first foods to healthy meals for up to age 7. It provides tips on how to best cook/prepare food with lots of variety. I have b/g twins, now 10 months old and have had great success with this book. The only time they've had jarred baby food was when we were traveling and had to feed them in the car and stayed in a hotel with no freezer. Feel free to PM me with any other questions. I love making my own food and would love to help anyone else who's interested. Good luck!

I bookmarked the following website based upon recommendations of others here on the BBB:

I tried the Annabel Karmel book, too, but didn't find it helpful. Then a friend who was making lots of food at home for her DS mentioned the Super Baby Food book, by Ruth Yaron.

Wow! What a great resource! It has loads of information - the part I find most helpful is the appendix which tells you which fruits/veggies to introduce when, and instructions on choosing, buying, storing and cooking each. Uber helpful.

It is also packed full of other tips like making your own eco-friendly and cheap baby-friendly cleaning products (but I am too lazy), and food and party ideas etc. which will make this book useful for years into his toddler/childhood. I refer to it 3/4 times a week, and whenever I'm making my grocery list for the week.
