I was wondering if anyone has dealt with pinworms with their baby before? It's a gross subject I know but I am concerned about my toddler and I am not sure what action I need to take. I haven't seen any worms but we do go through the whole "itchy bum" syndrome. Is there a simple way to tell for sure that doesn't involve a very traumatizing trip to the dr?

Thanks and much love,

In the middle of the night, you can check their rectum. Fun, huh? They apparently come out at night, when you're relaxed and burrow into the skin around the rectum to lay eggs. It itches and burns and generally wakes children up. You can check with a flashlight or you can also stick a piece of scotch tape on there and pull it off and see what sticks.

So far, we haven't had them, but I remember my pediatrician telling me how gross they are. Then when her kids caught them and she told me that she had to check for them and could see the little, white, threadlike worms wiggling on her child.....she did a full body shudder.

So, brace yourself. ;)
