Hi, we will be coming up to NJ staying with bil in Watchung. We were hoping to go to Six Flags but heard that it mainly attracts teens.

Looking for a fun place that has some small rides and attractions for our 5 yo dd.

No more than 1 hour drive.

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure how far of a drive this would be for you, but my DH has taken our children to the Land of Make Believe and they liked it:

Also, there is a great pick-your-own farm in Chester:http:http://www.alstedefarms.com/

I really don't know where things are relative to one another, but there is also a great zoo, carousel, little train that runs around the zoo and playground at Van Saun park that is in Maywood/near Hackensack. Google the Bergan County zoo and info should come up. HTH.

Bowcraft amusement park is really close to Watchung.

Van Saun is a great zoo, but the Turtle Back Zoo might be closer to Watchung.

I'll second the Alstede's recommendation. We love going there.

The Bridgewater Mall isn't too far away, and it has a Lego store. That's always good entertainment on a rainy day.

I'll edit if I think of more.

We always hit Turtle Back Zoo!! My mil lives in West Orange and it's a very short drive from her house. The pony rides were a big hit.

Bow Craft looks like it will be the best fit. On Map Quest it gives a 10 minute drive from bil's address.

My dd will be thrilled with a small carnival like atmosphere.

Thanks again!

Point Pleasant is a little over an hour away; also Keansburg has rides, etc (I've never personally been to Keansburg though!). Point Pleasant has Jenkinsons (boardwalk, tons of rides and aquarium).

Northlandz is good too, though lots of walking. There's a train ride outside of it too!

When are you coming? There's a Day out w/ Thomas in Phillipsburg, NJ in early July.
