I heard about this on Oprah a while back and for the heck of it, I checked it out of my local library. I'm about halfway through.

Anyone else read it? I'm curious to know what you think.

I definitely agree that women do a disservice to one another by acting like everyhing is so perfect and hunky dory about parenthood. That's one of the reasons I like coming to the BBB, everyone is so real and honest about their experiences. :)

Funny you should mention it. I just cleaned all the junk (OK, not all of it, some of it) off my end table in the family room and lookie there -- my copy of the book! I guess I was also a really good housekeeper before I had kids, LOL.

I haven't read the book but I agree with this statement 100%. I feel the same way about marriage too. I really wish people were more honest and open about the struggles they face in both marriage and motherhood. Sometimes just knowing that someone else is going through what you are going through makes a world of difference.

I read it and I loved it. It tells what so many women go through but are afraid to say.

Yes! Read it back in '07. I remember liking it quite a bit.

Thanks for the recommendation. My friends and I are always wondering about the moms who go on and on about motherhood being so wonderful. I really love my kids, but there are days ...

Just thought of a few others I would recommend after browsing through my goodreads.com "read" shelf:

Why Animals Sleep So Close to the Road (and Other Lies I Tell My Children) (http://www.amazon.com/Animals-Sleep-Close-Other-Children/dp/0312332378/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1245786032&sr=8-3)
and
I Wear the Maternity Pants in This Family (http://www.amazon.com/Wear-Maternity-Pants-This-Family/dp/0312368186/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1245786032&sr=8-1)
both by Susan Konig, who is local to me. I had heard of her but went to hear her do a reading in '06 and loved it. Read both books shortly thereafter.
You're Not The Boss Of Me: Adventures Of A Modern Mom (http://www.amazon.com/Youre-Not-Boss-Me-Adventures/dp/0758215371/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1245786752&sr=8-1) by Erika Schickel
Not for the faint of heart but I loved this.

A couple from my "to read" list:
It Sucked and Then I Cried: How I Had a Baby, a Breakdown, and a Much Needed Margarita (http://www.amazon.com/Sucked-Then-Cried-Breakdown-Margarita/dp/1416936017/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1245786997&sr=1-1) by Heather Armstrong (dooce.com)
Mother Shock: Loving Every (Other) Minute of It (http://www.amazon.com/Mother-Shock-Loving-Every-Minute/dp/1580050824/ref=pd_sim_b_2) by Andrea J. Buchanan
