An action alert for all of us in Ohio:

On Friday June 19, Gov Ted Strickland announced a plan to drastically reduce funding to Ohio's public libraries. Many libraries in the state will suffer greatly from this: cutting services, reducing hours, and closing branches. Ohio has wonderful libraries that are considered among the best in the country. In our state's current economic situatuation, more families and individuals have come to rely on library services. And now the governor wants to slash their funding.

Tell Gov. Strickland that you disagree with this decision. Contact your state reps and senators and tell them how important libraries are to our communities. We have until June 30th to get our voices heard before the budget is set.

You know, I'm a solid Ohio democrat, but I'm not feeling the love for Strickland right about now. I'll pass this around as well, thanks.

I'm not even in Ohio, but I've been posting on Facebook and Twitter about it. I grew up there and most of my family is still there. My cousin is a librarian at a city library and my mother is a retired school librarian, so it's an issue near and dear to my heart!
