View Full Version : What's after the infant tub?

My son almost 6 months needs something else besides his infant tub. When I put him in it he keeps trying to sit up on his own, but he can't quite do it yet. He ends up squirming into odd positions and its just not safe. I bought a used Safety first bath seat, but it is really hard to get to all the parts that need washed. I end up having to take him out and stand him up in the water. Also not safe. So what do you use once they are too big for the infant tub?

Update: Thanks for the advice. I just got the Munchkin duck yesterday and used it for the first time today. It was the perfect solution. It has room for him to grow, but isn't so big that he could get his head under water. He also liked the sound the tub made when he grabbed it in his hands. He loves crinkly sounds. I liked the duck bill sound effect and the suction cup. It was also a lot easier to refill the small tub than the whole adult tub after he peed in the tub. Something that unfortunately happens almost every time he takes a bath. Thanks for your help!

We used this one until my girls were almost 2:
http://www.amazon.com/Primo-340W-PRIMO-EuroBath-Pearl/dp/B000056OV0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1245806283&sr=8-1

The customer pictures show older kids using it so you can see how it works.

we started by putting DD's tub into the regular tub until she/we got used to it......then we just bought a really cushy tub mat at walmart and sat her down in the regular tub.......I know some people have used smaller blow-up tubs inside the fullsize tub and really like that......we would have done that except we only have one bathroom so DH and I would have been blowing up that tub every night to wash DD!!

I used the snugtub deluxe. More contained and cushioned.

ETA: AFter use, it just hung on the wall of the tub/shower with suction cups.

we used the Summer Infant folding baby bather - which is styled kinda like a bouncy seat, it fits in larger kitchen sinks or in the bathtub

I also used a Summer Infant bather, this one: http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Mothers-Comfort-Bather/dp/B000B90G9K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1245844447&sr=1-1

Then when he outgrew that, I got a Snug Tub Deluxe. My son was enormous at 3 months old, when I started using that bather, so I wasn't comfortable switching to the Snug Tub at that age.

I agree with the Snugtub Deluxe. DS1 loved it, and I'm getting ready to move DS2 into it.

We love the Munchkin Duck. You can get it at Target for under
$15. It is also great to travel with. DS has been in it since he was 5 months old and still fits comfortably in it at almost 8 months.

Mine went straight from the baby tub into bathing with mommy -- and I honestly don't think I'd repurchase the baby tub in the future. Bathing in the full tub is just that much easier.
