I'm the matron of honor at my mother's wedding in August. I'll be about 25+ weeks then and need to find a dress.

She is being really great about it, letting me choose the dress and color to accomodate my belly - but she would prefer a formal bridesmaids dress my aunt, sister and step-sister can match.

I would love to find something with a high waistline that I won't have to worry about having to have repeatedly fitted.

Pre Pregnancy I am a size 8 -10, and while at 15 weeks I have only gained about 2 lbs (thanks to endless morning sickness) I don't fit into my pre pregnancy pants. I am also very large busted (36 DDD) at last count, so a larger size would be neccesary for the bustline alone.

So, can anyone reccomend a reasonably priced bridemaids dress?

TIA,

Dena

Not sure what your budget is but here are some:

$138, silver or a pretty (imo) blue:

$110.50, black or deep blue, kind of more casual but with the right jewelry maybe?

Thank you so much Beth!

I never would have thought to look at Ann Taylor!

I was getting a headache imagining a maggie dress at $200+ and then alteration after alteration! I was beyond huge with Jack, but I started packing on weight right from the get go so I have no idea what to expect this go round. I don't even look pregnant yet!

Thanks again!

Check the sales on jcrew.com. They always have bridesmaids dresses that are really lovely, and many with empire waists.

I'm really excited to share this bit of info with you, b/c I went BONKERS trying to find a bridesmaid dress, everything is so skimpy now and I was not comfortable wearing it. I will be one month postpartum when I stand for friend's wedding and we ended up (ALL of the bridesmaids) getting a maternity bridesmaid gown! It doesn't LOOK maternity, it's very flattering for all body types, basically it has an empire waist and the ladies at the bridal shop said they did not even realize it was a maternity gown until they had sold several of them to NON-pregnant women.

I tried it on when I was about 28 wks pregnant, the other bridesmaids didn't HAVE to get the same dress (I'm the MOH), but ended up trying it and liking it, so all of us are getting it in aubergine. It's flattering for all of our different figures and none of us are spring chickens, so we weren't really liking how skimpy the majority of bridemaid gowns are like in general now. Each dress, including tax cost less than $120 and we will need minimal alterations (hem and maybe a little stich in the middle of the bust, b/c it is a crossover style). I really love this dress and even though I won't be pregnant anymore when I wear it, I can actually wear my nursing bra with it AND nurse in the gown w/o taking it off (which I could NOT find any other gown that fit my needs). It's Alfred Sung M406 It's a crepe type of material, very flowy, the bride fell in love with it too when she saw it too.

We have David's Bridal where we live, I think they might be national. They have brides maids dresses where you can pick different tops and bottoms in the same colors for different brides maids. So everyone has the same color but different styles.

Thank you for posting these dresses! I ordered several and found the Ann Taylor LOFT dress to be the most flattering: http://www.anntaylorloft.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=20829&N=1200122&categoryId=639&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_639&defaultColorNameFromCategory=Black&defaultSizeTypeFromCategory=Misses

I have to figure out the shoes and jewelry....but that will be easy compared to finding a dress that didn't look like a tent :-)

Thanks again!

This is what we did when I was in a wedding while pregnant. I was one of three bridesmaids. We all had the same skirt and chose different tops--all in the same color.

It worked out really well. Mine had to be altered, of course, but it worked out.
