For those that make baby food.....sorry another question! What did you do for pears. Cook them or just mash them up? Freeze them or make them on the go? For those that froze them, did they thaw out alright? Did the taste change?

Just halve them, bake them cut side down in a glass baking dish with a little bit of water, covered for about 20-30 min at 400 degrees (or until they are soft). Then peel/core them (which is a lot easier and faster to do once cooked, and puree (or mash, depending on what textures your baby will eat). You shouldn't need to add water but if you do, use the cooking liquid. They freeze and thaw just fine. I wouldn't go crazy making a huge amount, because your baby may decide to hate purees sooner than you think:)

When baby starts eating finger foods, dice them up - they are tasty!

My DD looooved pureed pears!

I peeled & cored the pears, sliced them, and then steamed them for a few minutes. Then processed in my food processer until pureed. Just like applesauce. Yum!

I froze in ice cube trays. They thawed out just fine.

Neither of my kids were big solids eaters as babies, but they both loved pears!
