New Nuby 10 0z. gripper spout leaks

I ordered new spouts for our Nuby 10 oz gripper cups. They are the right spouts but the design has changed. And not for the good, they leak and collapse constantly. I have used these cups with the old style spout for three years with no problems before this. Anyone else have the same problem?

I bought some new ones at Walmart recently that don't work as well as the old ones. I have to unseal it constantly to let air back in - frustrating for everyone. I'm so mad, as these have been our go-to cups and I was planning to switch to them entirely.

I did some surgery on the little airhole. Just clipped off the tiniest bit of one of the triangles. It seems to have solved the collapsing problem. DS who is only 1 YO still makes a bit of a mess but I think that is because he is still new to bottles/cups and lets some run out of his mouth. And he is a thrower, too. So a little bit of leaking now, hopefully improving as he gets older.
