Britax Comanion- Base Question

Can you still get a good/ safe fit without the base? Im looking at getting a 2nd base for our 2nd car we tend to have DS in DH's car in the morning and mine in the afternoon and if its going to be just as bad w/ DD as well then I think the additional base would come in handy. BUT if DH thinks he can handle installing the seat everytime w/ the belt is it okay? Can we still get a safe/ snug fit?

And it can be done with the baby in there, without having to stand behind it, it's just a matter of getting that lap portion tight and the belt locked :)
