After our bedtime routine of bath, pjs, milk while I read 3-4 books to him, I turn off the lights and put him in his crib. I then sit in a chair next to his crib and pretend to fall asleep. He lies down with his bear and insists on holding my finger. I then get up and leave 10-15 minutes later, whether he's asleep or not. when he's not asleep yet, he cries and cries. He usually will stop crying and fall asleep within 5min.
lately, he's been crying when we announce it's time for his bath. i suppose he realizes that it will be bedtime shortly thereafter. He seems to be getting anxious/scared. I don't know what to do to make bedtime a more calming and relaxing experience for him. I don't want to sit there until he falls asleep every night. Any suggestions? could he be having nightmares?
