When DD was born, "we" gave DH a book called "Daddy's Girl" while in the hospital.

I'd like to give something comparable, this time for being the daddy of a little boy, when DS arrives. Any recommendations?

The only thing I can think of is a baseball glove with a ball that has DS's name on it.

Omgosh, that book Daddy's Girl is a riot. Is that the same as the one we have that says "beautiful baby with a nice clean butt" and all that?

My dad got these for the boys ~ http://www.barnstablebat.com/birthbat.html

They engrave it with the name, birthdate, height, weight, etc. so you wouldn't have it to give right away

This sounds funny! Do you know the author?

The Daddy's Girl book we have is by Garrison Keiller. DD picks it up and says "Daddy" now -- she laughs uproariously when DH reads her the "Bananas" part :)

So I always recommend these books, but DH really treasures reading them to DS. The graphics and text leave some to be desired, but DH's enthusiasm makes up for it when it's his favorite teams, mascots, landmarks, etc:
