P&PT request for my FIL...recent update in post 22

I have hesitated posting this because we still don't know what's going on, but my (nearly) 82 yr. old FIL collapsed this afternoon and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. They have been up there since 3 or so and still haven't seen a Dr. or know what's wrong. He has had the flu the past few days so it's likely it's dehydration, but it's a little scary since he's not been in the best of health recently, has a heart condition, and is older. DH has gone back up again to sit with MIL, and I am here with a sleeping DS fielding calls from my frantic out-of-town SIL. If you could keep us in your thoughts it would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone :) No news yet. DH just got home and FIL & MIL are still waiting to be seen by a Doc. It's 11 here, so that's not so great. I am hoping that means that he's not all that urgent if they're letting him wait so long, though it might be nice if they hooked him up to an IV of fluids in the meantime or something. I don't know. I'm guessing Fri. night is pretty busy in the ER. I'll update tomorrow if/when we know more.

As of this morning FIL is still in the ER, but having tests done, and getting penicillin and IV fluids. He's not only dehydrated but they think he has an infection of some sort, and maybe pneumonia. He will likely get checked into ICU later today. His spirits are OK, but he's very weak. DH has gone up to relieve poor MIL who spent the entire night there. SIL is on her way to also take some shifts so MIL can get some sleep. Many thanks for all the P&PT, and if you could keep them coming, we'd appreciate it :)

I missed it too. Sending P&PTs for FIL your way. Don't forget to get a break for yourself too. If you are on DS-duty solo while DH is tending FIL, you may need some outside help.

Just another update on my FIL. He was admitted yesterday and moved to the cardiac ICU because he has a staph infection which is affecting his heart, along with the pneumonia and potential flu. He's not feeling very great yet, and is quite out of it, but luckily his docs don't think it's all that serious and with the right meds, fluids, and time he should be OK. So, thank you all so much for your P&PT! I know they helped :)

MIL is feeling better too - she was quite the basket case after the ambulance, night in the ER, and general stress of dealing w/other ER clients, but now with a diagnosis and a little sleep she's back to normal (she's usually a pretty tough cookie :) )

I know this is old, but I just want to thank everyone for their mojo and P&PT...my FIL finally got discharged from the hospital today :cheerleader1: So, he'll be home with the family for Christmas. He's still quite weak and he's lost a lot of weight, and he had quite the House-like diagnosis journey, but he's got a clean bill of health now. We're so very happy here :)
