DD is 3 1/2 yo and we are looking to get her a bike as her reward for finally pooping in the potty!! :yay:

She really wants a pink bike. I'm trying to stay away from character themes especially princess themed. I'm looking for something plain and simple which seems to be hard to find...

What are your recommendations? What about "trikes"? I found these but not sure where to even begin.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

At 3 1/2, I wouldn't buy one of those for my dc. She will only get a few months out of riding it and in less than a year(or even now!), she will be able to ride a bigger, child sized bike. I think that you would be wasting money on one of the bikes that you posted. JMHO.

What about a little 2 wheeler with training wheels?

ETA this: http://www.target.com/Kettler-8718-710-Sprint-Princess or www.target.com/Girls-Kettler-Bicycle-Violet (http://www.target.com/Girls-Kettler-Bicycle-Violet)

Ok, links don't work, but you can go to target.com and search kettler. They have both balance bikes (Spirit) and training wheels (Bicycle Violet)

I would say it really depends on if you want training wheels or not and how long you plan to keep the training wheels on. We borrowed a 12" bike for DD to learn on around age 4 and she quickly learned to ride without training wheels and then we bought her a 16" bike, but she could not start herself as the bike was a little big for her to handle. We just bought my DS (3.5) a 12" bike at a sale for $10 and he is now also riding without training wheels. My DD (now 5.5) just taught herself to start alone on his 12" bike and then was able to translate it to her 16" bike. Having said that, there is no way I would pay full price for a 12" bike because as PP said they just do not use them long enough, but there is definitely a benefit to having one to learn on.
