well i can't sleep, so just for fun, what is on/in your bed side table?
i was just thinking about how much storage space is wasted in my bed side table. i have lots of space in there but not much stuff that i need to store next to my bed. i actually use the drawers in dh's to store clothes i haven't used since having kids (lingerie and workout clothes).

i have a lamp, phone (well the handset is missing so it is just an answering machine), tissue box, and bottle of water on my bed side table. in the top drawer i have paper, pen, hair band, lip balm, listerene breath strips, nursing pads (although it has been a year since i was last breast feeding), a book, too many bottles of lotion (i never use them but i really should start since my skin is so dry!), and some wash clothes. in the bottom drawer i have a blanket.

what do you keep by your bed?

Right now?

On top:

A lamp

A Medela Symphony breastpump

2 prescriptions and 1 bottle of children's tylenol.

An empty glass

*********

On the lower shelves:

A newspaper from a week ago

Brain, Child

4 books- April 1865 (about the end of the Civil War), The Pact (a 1/2 decent novel), The Jerusalem edition of the bible, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

ETA- there is a drawer and it is just full of random stuff, like change, spare keys, pens, note pad, chargers for various stuff, vitamin bottles, note cards. Really the drawer is a disaster.

My husband's night stand is very neat and tidy- lamp and our alarm clock on top. Books (for him likely stuff like sci-fi paperbacks, old seal press books and manuals/dictionaries of drug names and purposes for work/school) in the drawer, his CPAP machine for sleep apnea on one of the lower shelves and a row of board books for F on the other shelf.

Can't sleep either. *sigh*

Right now:

Lamp
glass of spring water
alarm clock/CD player/MP3 player (I hate it, looking for a new one)
Blackberry
charger for land line phone (actually VoIP) WITHOUT the phone in it (someone left it somewhere)
small box of tissues (bad season allergy for me)
a stack of three books that I am currently reading (at the same time)
a fine layer of dust that shows up almost immediately after dusting since it is painted black wood furniture

In top drawer (our nightstands are very big):
tons of makeup (I probably only use 5% out of it)
iPod with the best sounding earbuds, but also the most uncomfortable ones to wear
two small notebook/journals
pen
hand lotion (one from OPI that smells like gardenias .... mmmm)

In bottom drawer:
many books
my son's Comfort Silkie that I need to pack away with his memory stuff
a small Little Nut Brown Hare stuffy from "Guess How Much I Love You" set, something else that needs to be packed away
lots of little drawings and doodles that my son brings to me
more books (lol ... I am a book fiend)

I can post the top now and the drawers tomorrow since DH is sleeping.

Top: Glass of water on a coaster, sports watch, video baby monitor, audio baby monitor (the video one picks up the smallest sounds so too much noise clutter), vitamins, mouth guard, stuffed monkey I used to sleep with, sterling silver icon of Mary that DH brought me from a trip to Prague.

cordless phone
cell phone (it doubles as my alarm clock)
pencil cup thingie (holds pens/pencils, as well as my pill organizer, emery board)
notepad
bottle of water
box of tissues
bottle of lotion
remote control
whatever books/magazines I'm currently reading

My bedside lamp is wall-mounted, which is a major space-saver. Still, my nightstand feels so cluttered!

um, Astroglide?

And that is exactly where my mind has been lately b/c I just assumed that was what the OP was getting at :)

um, Astroglide?

Um, Yeah that.

And a lot of dust.

I need to clean. And put the aforementioned astroglide in the drawer.

um, Astroglide?
Yeah, I was kind of glossing over that, and the other "supplies" that reside with the condoms ;)

um, Astroglide?

Well, she didn't ask what was in the box under the bed and I didn't tell. :wink2:

On my bedside table, there's:

1 Taggie blankie
1 big soft bear
1 nursery light
1 book (American Lion)
2 monitors (1 to listen, 1 to hear)

There's nothing in the drawer or under on the shelf. We're just starting to get our stuff straight in our rooms after another round of stripping and painting. (3 rooms to go!)

I could only *wish* for the types of supplies pps are talking about. ;)

My side:
The phone
A lamp
Kleenex
Dirty Kleenexes
In the top drawer a memory box I was given at the hospital when DS#2 was born and his pictures
In the bottom drawer is our fax machine which we use like 4 times a year

DH's Side
A lamp
A clock
A picture of the two of us from long ago when we didn't have grey hairs or babies ;)
In the drawer are our "supplies"
On the top shelf are some magazines
On the bottom shelf is a Tonka Truck
Wow I go from grown up toys to kid toys in one piece of furniture :innocent:

Oh so people don't get the wrong idea the dirty kleenexes are because of my allergies :p

On:
A lamp with burnt out bulb - been meaning to change for 6 months
Baby monitor
Cordless phone
Permanant marker - random
Sams Club card - even more random
Hair band
$25 drying out from the washing machine -
TV remote

In:
DH's socks, boxer briefs, and white tanks.

"My" bedside table is actually DH's oversized nightstand. I took over his side of the bed when pg because it was more comfy (crazy prego logic there) and never bothered switching the contents of my old side to new. Fun things are not kept there since MIL started trying to put away our laundry.

Since DS was born a bassinet is where my nightstand was, and the nightstand is next to the dresser, which is where we change baby's diapers. So on top I have

Lamp
Diapers
Wipes
various books under the lamp.

Lord knows what's inside the top drawer. The only things I'm sure of is my sweater shaver and a dozen little bottles of lotions that I never use.

The bottom drawer has pjs in it.

On my side- a travel alarm clock with a dead battery, a cordless phone handset (also with a dead battery) along with the charging station/power cord, a hair clip, and a piece of blue masking tape (the phone/base, hair clip and tape were all retrieved from under/behind the bed earlier today).

On DH's side- a CPAP, radio alarm clock, box of tissues, and leather shoe lace from somebody's slipper.

There are no drawers to peek into because our bedside tables are a lovely matched set of commercial chain barrels. :bag I can't seem to find "real" tables that I like.

My side: lamp, alarm clock and some jewerly and hair ties (when not being used)...in the drawer I have some pump stuff I use to keep my pump attached, some CD's, lotion, breast pads, lip gloss, and small journal to record little DD tidbits.....
DH's table is actually my jewelry chest, so he just has the top for his alarm clock, lamp, cell phone and water....
Our "box of fun" is under the bed in a not-so-subtle sexy by victoria secret box!

On top: alarm clock, some spare change, my basal body thermometer, one of DS's toy trucks, and a couple of library books.

In the drawer: my prayer books, a box of holy cards, my NFP chart, body art crayons, lubricants & lotions, and a box of earplugs (DH snores).

question for those of you with adult toys in the nightstand: have your kids found them / do you worry that they will find them? since dd1 was able to open the drawers, we moved the fun stuff to the top shelf of our armoire. i just don't want to have to explain any of it yet (ever?).

Our bedroom is gated, though that might not mean as much anymore. And my bedside table locks. That's why the good stuff is on my side  Considering all our incidents with diaper creme these days, it's a good thing :tongue5:
