DD is 9mo and sleeps on her stomach with her knees tucked underneath her and her little behind up in the air.

DH and I are worried she sleeps like this because she is getting cold at night. I feel her and she's warm to touch. She usually sleeps in long sleeved/legged pj's with thick socks to keep her toes warm.

Does anyone elses DC sleep like this? Is it just a way babies sleep or should I add a sleepsack?

We keep her bedroom at 75 degrees.

Both of mine do it. I think it is totally normal - and adorable!

My DD is over 2 1/2 yrs old and still does this- not every night, but still frequently. She used to wear a sleepsak but not has a thin blanket in bed but it never ever stays on.

:yeahthat: They must just be comfy that way b/c I know a lot of babies that have slept like that.

DD2 slept like that quite often. All of mine have slept like that at one time or another. It's just a comfy position for them.

Mine too. That's the only way she'll fall asleep by herself. She was never able to sleep by herself in the crib until she got old enough for me to stop rolling her off of her tummy.

All of mine have done that. DS2 still does.

If you think about it, it's the natural fetal position. It worked for 40 or so weeks. . . why stop now?:wink2:

DS does it too - and up until last week, he was in a sleep sack. It's just so cute to go in and see that little bum up in the air :) Wish I could get a good picture of it.

In yoga that's known as "the pose of a child." I never knew why until I had DD!

My DD#2 has slept that way nearly every night since she started rolling over and sleeping on her tummy. DD#1 used to occasionally, not sure if she has lately. Its more of a DD#2 thing though. Still makes me smile! :)

Dd2 is almost 22 months and she has been sleeping this way for a long time. She's not cold..that must just be the way she is most comfy.

My DD is over 3 and every once in a great while, I find her that way...when she was younger, she'd sleep like that ALL the time. DS who is 16mos now sleeps that way often.

T did a lot and he was certainly NOT cold. Dude is the warmest baby ever born, sweated while sleeping in just a diaper with no blanket.

It's just a comforting position for a lot of babies, toddlers and children.

In our house we call it "bottoms up." Too cute when they are like that.

My mother still talks fondly of the fact that I used to sleep like that as a baby. Apparently she and my father used to think it was the cutest thing!

Oh yes. Lots of babies do the butt up in the air thing.

DS2 slept like that. He was one of those babies that the, "back to sleep" ppl would have freaked out over, b/c he was NEVER able to sleep on his back. After a wk of fighting with him to sleep on his back, I finally gave up and let him sleep on his belly. I think the butt in the air stance can also be helpful for babies who might have some tummy troubles (gas).
