Looking for a reading light for my daughter...

She likes to read in bed for a little bit before she goes
to sleep.

Thanks!

Billy's favorite book light is the one that came with the Snuggie. My mom got one for Christmas as a joke and gave Billy the book light ~ it's awesome!!! I'm not sure who makes it though

My kids have these: http://www.amazon.com/Garrity-KN300GST03A-Touch-Lite-Light/dp/B000NBDTV8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1247535582&sr=1-2. I got a 2-pack off Woot. They are a push button and easy to use. They give off enough light to read by.

I have a Light Wedge light (sold at Barnes and Noble) and I really like it. Some designs are geared more toward certain types of books (paperbacks vs. hardbacks, etc.) Eta: I prefer these as they illuminate the whole page (at least the one I have from Light Wedge does) vs just having a clip on at the top of the page, kwim?

Is this what you have, Beth?

my dd uses a small lamp (a table lamp) from Ikea that has a pull cord for the on/off switch. we have it on the floor because dd's mattress is still on the floor. it's really easy for her to turn on and off herself.

looks like this:

Thanks, Anne!

My DD actually has a little lamp on her nightstand with a nightlight bulb in it.
She keeps the light on all night. But it doesn't have enough light for her to read.

We could put a brighter bulb in it but that would give us 2 problems.
1. It would be too bright to keep on all night as a "nightlight".
2. It would be too bright and her little brother would wonder why she
got to stay up & he didn't.

She is almost 8 yrs. old so I don't mind if she reads in bed for a little bit.

Both kids are in bed at 8:00pm. On some nights though, she just isn't
ready for bed that early. So we let her read until 8:30pm if she wants.

I just don't want my son to find out or he'll never stay in bed.

And that would be bad. :)

We've learned the hard way that book lights are not created equal. I have one like this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TXZIDM/ref=s9_alfla_bw_tr03?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-6&pf_rd_r=050PG93DN4W31F06GJZV&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=482461831&pf_rd_i=1268192011) that I got so I could read my school books in bed. It also does a great job with my kindle. It is bright and easily lights up the whole page. The downside is that the clip part is big and bulky so it can be a hassle with lighter books. But there are probably several fairly easy work arounds for that.

We bought Ellie a tinker bell book light for Easter but there is a flaky "open" in it somewhere so it doesn't work well. Ray also bought a smaller one and while the clip is easier to use, it barely lights up the screen on my kindle and in order to accomplish that it is in the way of reading. Plus sometimes its switch is a little flaky as well. So, the husband bought one like mine this weekend and Ellie is getting his old one.
