Question about awake duration

I was wondering how long a 7mo could/should be able to stay awake between naps & before bedtime??? My DD can barely stay awake 2hrs before the 1st am nap. But am having trouble fitting in 3 naps now. She won't sleep longer than 10-10.5 hrs overnight, so bedtime can't be before 8pm. That is leaving her awake for 4+ hrs between naps & bedtime!?? Any help would be so awesome!!:)

I had this same problem with my oldest. And now my 4.5 month old won't take the third nap anymore, so he's up between 3 and 4 hours before bed.

With both of them, I've noticed that even if they're up "too long" before bed time, they'll still fall asleep ok. Its naps that they have a hard time with if they get overtired. I read somewhere that night sleep and day sleep are controlled by different areas of the brain, so maybe they can handle more waketime before bed?
