DD drinks rice milk. Can I bring that? Can I bring it in a sippy cup or should I bring the small drink box unopened? Can I bring snacks for the kids not purchased beyond security (like my own snacks that I know they will eat from home)?

You can bring the rice milk, but you will need to declare it at security. I would bring several small containers rather than a larger one.

You can bring any kind of food. The only issue is liquids.

Thanks Beth. DD cannot be without her rice milk in the PM (we are flying in the mid-late afternoon).

For the definitive answers, check with your airline and the TSA. Both have information online.

You might want to try to find some of the 8oz size boxes... then you don't have a big box of rice milk that could spill!!!

These are what I meant. The juicebox sized boxes. We take those everywhere with us.

Here is some helpful information:

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/index.shtm

Medications, baby formula and food, breast milk, and juice are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint. Click here (http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm) to learn more about 3-1-1

All items including formula, breast milk, and juice will be inspected, however, you or your infant or toddler will not be asked to test or taste breast milk, formula, or juice. Our Security Officers may test liquid exemptions (exempt items more than 3 ounces) for explosives.
Click here (http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtm) to read about traveling with formula, breast milk, juice, and baby food.

3 - All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.

1 - All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.

1 - Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.

Are you flying through a major airport?

If you are flying through a smaller airport--like small regional--they will open all of your child's drinks to test for explosives. This happened to me two weeks ago. I tried to bring boxed milk and applesauce.

In Atlanta--major airport--I declared and there was no problem. But at the smaller airport in Duluth, MN, it was a huge problem. The smaller airports don't have the same equipment as the major ones and have to do extra screening.

I ended up just having to throw my stuff away because after it's opened, there's no way to close it and it would have gone all over.

I really HATE that frackin' airport. They are nazi-like. Small airports always are. They have nothing better to do, I guess.:rolleye0014:
