Question about Sim Cards

I have a blackberry and I upgraded the software today. Well, something went wrong and I lost all my pictures and contacts!! I'm so upset. Nothing is showing up on my sim card. I thought every time i saved a contact it automatically saved it on the sim card. Is that incorrect? do i need to go through an extra step to save a phone number on my sim card?

I'm not sure about BBs and it's been a while since I had a GSM phone, but a few years back, the phones had options for saving to both the phone's internal memory as well as the SIM card. It's possible the software screwup is causing some glitch there. Did you do a hard reset and reinstall the upgrade software?
