DH and I are plotting a kid free trip to Las Vegas in October. We've never been. Not huge gamblers, but looking for a get away. We'll be gone 4 days. Mostly want quiet, people watching, and a couple of shows. No idea where to stay.

Thanks!

We've stayed at the luxor, red rock, bellagio, and the castle one......red rock is by far the quietest and most relaxing, but the farthest off the strip....they do have a shuttle that goes to one end of the strip....
We stayed at the luxor a few years ago and they were doing construction, so I'm not sure what it is like now......the exhaliber (sp?) was nice, but older.......bellagio was very nice, but busy. (that is where we stayed in June).....
I think no matter where you stay on the strip it's going to be busy.......maybe others will have some good recs. for you!

We love Bally's for its location and reasonable price. It's not heavily themed like some of the other hotels, but the rooms are large and clean, and it adjoins Paris and is right across the street from Bellagio (love the dancing fountains. It is also an easy walk to Cesar's Palace, which has a nice indoor mall, and pretty much anything else on the strip.

Luxor offers great deals but is really far down IMO, so you'd be taking a bus to most anything along the strip.

When we went two years ago we stayed at the Embassy Suites Las Vegas Airport (on Swenson) and really enjoyed our stay. It is off the strip and does not have any gaming, so quiet, which we really like at the end of the day. It is also across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. It has a parking lot and we found it to be an easy drive to any of the strip hotels/casinos (you can pretty much stay on the back streets to get to the parking garages). You can find reviews of it here:

Have fun on your trip!
