I want to get dd a necklace as a little end of preschool/starting kindergarten gift. My little girl is growing up! <sniff!> I tried searching on etsy but keep just getting mom necklaces rather than necklaces truly made for kids. I don't have anything specific in mind that I'm looking for...just something cute and durable enough for everyday wear.

Thanks for any suggestions!

What about a charm with a heart or flower or something on it? Obviously NOT from christinaguenther, which is the seller I'm having problems with. But there are many others. Check out the thread where Corie asked for Mom necklaces, there are lots of ideas there.

it's a bracelet, and maybe not super durable, but cute - http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=28147106

I bought a silver pony pendant for Gwen's 5th birthday from Little Devil Designs and was very happy, both with the piece and with her service. She rushed it to me and was very pleasant. The charm is even nicer IRL than the pictures made it appear. Gwen was thrilled.

A friend of mine has this shop:

They may not be the look you want though, they are beaded necklaces. She does beaded charms, necklaces, bookmarks. The photos don't do them justice, they are really cute. The bookmark section will give you a better idea of what her things look like than the necklace section. If you convo her, she can do almost anything custom.

I ordered 2 purple beaded necklaces with a fairy charm for the girls and they love them.

I always thought the scrabble tile necklaces were cute for girls. There are a TON on etsy, but here is an example:

Oh wow! Thanks, ladies. I don't know how I'm ever going to choose. DD is hitting the horse-crazed faze (what is it with young elem. girls and horses?), but I love the meaning that could be easily assigned to the heart/star one. And Beth, you have such a talented group of friends! I also really like the scrabble tile....hmmm. what to do.
Thanks again!

Sine she's into her horse phase I think I'd go with a horse or horse shoe theme. Since you are giving it to her now, kind of as a bookmark of this time in her life, it may have more meaning that way than if you chose a heart or something.

Maybe you could start a charm bracelet for those stages she goes through?
