Can anyone help me find some farm toys? I would like to try to find a barn with the animals and maybe a fence. Maybe some tractors with pretend hay and trucks. I have been looking, but just not having much luck. My son loves the tractors and we haul hay right now, but our hay is legos!
Thanks for your help!!!

Plastic or wooden?
How old is your DC?

Playmobil 123 has some farm stuff for younger kids. For older kids, there are many farm items for regular Playmobil.

Would Little People or Duplo work?

If you prefer wood we have some wooden Holztiger animals. Not cheap, but really nice.

He will be 2 next month. I really don't care if they are plastic or wood, just not something that will fall apart. I really want the barn and some different tractors and trucks.
thanks

I second the Playmobil. We have a bunch of it (2 DS now 6 and 4, but started when younger was 2-3). We don't have any farm stuff so I can't comment on that specifically, but overall the quality is excellent. We have mostly pirate/knight stuff. The only thing I will warn you about is how TINY some pieces are. I didn't worry too much as there aren't any babies here, but it's one thing to consider.

As far as vehicles go, how about Bruder. Very realistic which is what my boys like. They are supposed to be durable too, but unfortunately my younger broke his excavator that he got in April :( They have LOTS of farm equipment in their catalog and my boys just love to look through the catalog!

Duplo farm: (didn't check prices...shop around and see what the best deal is. IME Duplo holds up really well in the long run, so you may be able to find a used set on Ebay)

Ditto Playmobil 123. Holds up well...you might look around and see if you can find it used if you want to save some $$.

Little People farm:

eta: DS didn't get into regular scale (the tiny stuff) Playmobil until he was 4 or a little before. DD was not yet 2 and jumped right into the regular stuff with him. YMMV. Most people say 2 is too young for regular scale Playmobil and would recommend the 123 stuff, but DD loved the regular PM items and didn't put stuff in her mouth. I actually have a big farm set put away for both of them for this coming Christmas. You can google Playmobil farm and get an idea of what they carry....tons of options. Not cheap, but resale is good on the flip side.

I :heartbeat: adore the Plan Toys Barn (which comes with a fence) and their tractor. Have you seen those?

But when DD got into the farm stage we could not afford it... so instead we have a Melissa and Doug wooden barn (for $15 from Craigslist) and a bunch of Schleich animals (collection from Target, Grandma and a local toy store). I made a play mat that rolls up when not in use (with divided areas instead of fence). I made the haybales from this online tutorial.

ETA- The garden on the right is from Plan Toys and I didn't add that until this Easter (when DD was 3) --Not sure how old your DC is but it has tiny parts.

Way to go!! I've made my kids a few felt playmats. Yours is great, and I :heartbeat: those cute haybales.

I forgot...we have the M&D barn as well (gift from grandparents). It is nice. I've seen them at my AC Moore locally...if you can find a 40 or 50% off coupon, you might be able to get a good deal (not all AC Moore stores carry toys, etc. but it might be worth a look)

Have you tried any of the local farmer supply places in a rural area close to where you live? We always bought our farm toys from the implement dealers (metal replicas from John Deere, IH, etc) or the farmer supply stores (Mills Fleet Farm, Farm & Fleet, Tractor Supply, etc) when I was a kid.

We normally played "farm" outside... driving the metal tractors & implements in the grass, garden or the sand pile.
