Hi! Like many out there, I'm totally stressed about finding a glider! In my personal opinion, the wooden ones aren't very attractive (plus our gender neutral nursery is a little on the contemporary side) so I'm trying to find a leather or upholstered one. I've come up with two options:

Ashley: Leather Glider Rocker Recliner #6060427
http://www.ashleyfurniture.com/Showroom/Showroom.aspx?PageId=Showroom&CategoryID=0&ItemNo=6060427&SetDomTab=4&SeriesNo=60604&CollectionId=&style=1&IsClicked=1&CatPageNumber=1&bFromSearch=Y&Keyword=6060427

Walmart: Enchanted Embassy Glider
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10902323

I've seen the Ashley one in person (much cuter than on the site) but haven't seen the Walmart one (looks like courderoy fabric?) Can anyone offer any advice? The nursery furniture in the room is chocolate brown so I'm a little worried about the leather chair being too dark but by the time I get the ottoman for the other one, the costs really start to add up (the Ashley glider/recliner is 50% off til next week) I could go on and on about the pros and cons, but I'm curious as to what other "experienced" parents think.

Thoughts?

I'd go for the one sold at Walmart since it is made by Little Castle and they make the best gliders.

Which one reclines? Buy that one.

I would go with one that you've actually had a chance to sit in and know is comfortable and a good fit for you. I was thinking I didn't want a wooden glider rocker for the same reasons as you, but it ended up being the best fit for us. I just wasn't comfortable in the big chairs. I was surprised by how deep some of them sat, how narrow some felt, etc... (same goes for the glider rockers). It was definitely something that I wanted to purchase after being able to see in person and know it would work for us.

This is what we ended up going with. The arm rest covers are press fit onto the arms, and the chair looks really nice with them off; we'll leave them on while using it with baby, though. I also like that it locks so that I don't have to worry about fingers getting pinched in it someday. The whole chair pad comes off, too.

I have a traditional glider
If I had it to do over again I'd buy a leather recliner

Just to clarify - the leather one glides and reclines (obviously can't glider when in reclined position). Hubby was pretty set on getting an ottoman but we could only do that with the Little Castle one. How important is an ottoman when nursing? Does anyone use a stool instead?

I love my little castle ottoman! I always prop my legs up on it when feeding DS2. Also, DS1 likes to sit on it to read.

Here's another option: La-Z-Boy Reclina-Glider (http://www.windsorpeak.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=331091) (available in fabric or leather of your choice).

We decided on a recliner that swivels/glides rather than a swivel glider based on recommendations here on the board. I am planning to use a small nursing stool that can easily be moved out of the way.

I like the look of the Wal-mart chair, it just seems to be a better fit for a nursery. Mine was made by Best Chair, we've had it for almost 4 yrs and are still happy with it.
