I do not understand why it is ok to comment on the size of a pregnant woman. I swear if another person tells me how pregnant I look or asks when my due date is and makes some comment about how I look like I am about to give birth tomorrow, they are going to get a nasty response.
Yes I do have a big stomach. I see myself in the mirror every day. I've gained more weight than I wanted (nothing out of the ordinary though), and I do not need people to remind me of this every day.
This pregnancy was not planned and I was pretty freaked out at the beginning. We did not plan to have any more kids. I really, really want my body back, but for the time being there is nothing I can do. People's comments are not helping. Why is everyone so insensitive. Especially women -- of all sizes!! I wonder what they would do if I commented on their size/shape?
I am not swollen at all. I do have a big belly (and a big butt :() and I do not need anyone to point these out to me. I should start wearing some sort of sign hanging from my neck. Seriously, I've gotten comments such "I see you are expanding", "you don't really need a life jacket, you probably float on your own", "you must be due any day now", etc... I've gotten some positive comments too, but unfortunately it is the idiotic ones that ruin my day!!
Done with my rant. Thanks!!

Oh. My. God. I cannot believe someone would say that - to anyone, let alone a Pg woman. Do these people have a brain? I mean, I've heard the "you look like you're due tomorrow" type of thing, but seriously, who would tell a pregnant lady that she could float?
Please, say something nasty to them! They deserve it! Maybe you should pretend to cry and be really hurt, maybe that will shame them - and everyone knows pg women are more "sensitive" so you could exploit that. :bighand:
I'm really sorry they've ruined your day with such insensitive comments! Hugs!

I can believe it. I lived it. People suck so bad. Add to mine- "wow, I didn't know that a first pregnancy could be so large!" And the ultra sound tech 3 days past my due date commenting about me having twins before she did her ultrasound. Really? And you're a professional?
But enough about me. My personal favorite was when people would marvel at my size, I would comment- "yea, and you can't believe how insensitive people are with their comments"! Most of them got the hint.
I can tell you- you are beautiful. And your little one will be worth it. It looks like this will be a fourth bundle? Then you know that your baby's opinion is the only one that counts. And she loves you for being a wonderful mom. The rest of the world can just leap off a bridge.

I hear ya! I was at a conference last month (attended by 99% women) and was flabbergasted at the rude comments I received. People asked if I was having twins or even triplets! One woman called me Mrs. Jumbo. I kid you not!
I know they are interested and are excited for us, but really. Just say congrats and move on!

My BF had twins 6 weeks ago, when she was about 4 months PG, she went clothes shopping at a Maternity store and the sales lady made some comment about "wow, you're only 4 months? You look like you're much farther along" She was really hurt. She explained she was expecting twins, and then on top of everything the idiot lady asks "why? did you take a fertility treatment?" (twins run in her family, but apparently people think only fertility treatments can produce multiples). My friend was so ticked off by this point she answered "no, I just had sex twice in the same night" and from that point on that was her answer to the fertility thing. And of course that got people to shut up and stop asking dumb questions.
But, I mean you'd expect employees of a maternity store to be a little more sensitive right?

That was awesome! I wish I could think on my feet like that. OP, I will happily hold your purse for you while you bop the next offender with a clue-by-4.

Being around a pregnant woman makes normal, sensible people stupid and rude! I'm sure you look beautiful, but if it makes you feel better, some of these might warn some people to keep their mouths shut!

Thank you ladies. I'm in a better mood thanks to you!! I love all the comebacks, especially Liz's vagina one. I only I was brave enough to use it. Deb, I cannot believe that someone called you Mrs. Jumbo. What is up with these people?!
I love the t-shirts! If this were not my last pregnancy and so close to my due date, I would get all of them. As it is I am very tempted to get one.
Thanks everyone!!

Just saw this and I am sorry you have to hear that horse poop! People can be such insensitive creeps!:32:
I was told by an acquaintance that I looked like I was having twins when I was 5 months pregnant with DD. I wasn't even close to looking like I was carrying twins. And this from a woman that has 4 kids, used to be obese and happens to look like Wesley Snipes in "To Wong Foo...".
Unbelievable!
