DH and I are starting to plan for our 10th anniversary next April. We honeymooned in Hilton Head, Charleston, and Savannah and would love to go back to Savannah for our anniversary.

We'd love to find a romantic bed & breakfast or inn in the Historic District of Savannah, preferably with a water view. Any recommendations?

My parents stayed at the Spanish Moss Inn this past May and loved it. They felt the proprieters were friendly, professional, and very knowledgable about local attractions. They also said the food is very good. http://www.spanishmossinn.com/ Sounds like it overlooks the Savannah River.

For restaurants, Vic's On the River had excellent food and service and was a great place for a romantic meal. Express Cafe had good breakfast and deli-style food and was clean with great service: http://www.expresscafeandbakery.com/ The Distillery was pretty decent and had good beer: http://www.distillerysavannah.com/ We were there as a large party and the service could have been better, but the food was very good.

For our family reunion in Savannah, we stayed at the Country Inn and Suites in the Historic District. It wasn't waterfront, but was near to the river, the visitors' center and the Distillery. It is new, nicely kept and reasonably priced. They have complimentary breakfast and a concierge desk, which was a big help. The hotel is right on the DOT shuttle line, which provides free transport around the Historic District.

Savannah's AAA office was incredibly helpful in making suggestions and assisting us in planning our family reunion.

There is a fantastic map we found on Amazon: The Best Little Map of Savannah. For $3-$4, it was well worth the cost, esp. if you're the type of person who navigates best by using landmarks.

Hope this was helpful and not too much info. Savannah was a great experience for us all around. Happy planning!
