View Full Version : O/T - any way to find a reliable contractor (kitchen re-do)?

We are just starting the process of re-doing our tiny, out-dated kitchen. I am petrified of this process - I have heard only horror stories from people that did a kitchen reno. My parents have a contractor that is AMAZING... but busy (all the good ones are busy, I think). Any suggestions for resources? Any good stories to report? What about the big-box renos (Ikea, Home Depot, Rona, etc.)? Any love/hate for those?

All help is appreciated!

From what I've seen I think it's well worth waiting for a really good contractor, even if they're super busy. A friend of mine waited over a year to begin her renos until the contractor could fit her in and it turned out so amazing. I'd hold off and use your parent's guy if you can.

Call Mike Holmes :)

I didn't realize that you were back home, Marina! We're thinking of re-doing our kitchen when we return to Calgary as well ...
