Custom Blog Design?

I am starting a blog and want to have something beyond the basic blogger template. Just by doing an internet search, I found some custom blog designers, but the prices range from $80 for a "complete blog makeover" to $2495 for a wordpress blog. Obviously, I am leaning toward the $80 price range!

Has anyone had a blog custom designed? Any recommendations or advice?

I had my blog "customized" through Jennisa at http://www.onceuponablog.org/ She was very easy to work with. I've had her change my blog from the original design once. Her fees have increased since I've had her work on my blog and I know she has a lengthy wait list, but she was worth the wait. I think I paid around $30 the first time and maybe $45 the second time. There are also some free options. Have you looked at http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/ ?

Thank you. I just checked out Once Upon a Blog and she has a TWO month waiting list. I'm not sure I am patient enough to wait.....I did like her site though.
