We switch ours over from heat to A/C and have it programmed to be at 75 in the mornings while we get ready, 80 during the day while we're gone, 75 in the evening when we get home, and 72 during the night. We have similar schedules programmed for Saturday and Sunday.

Ours is set for 74 during the day, 75 at night. As it starts to cool down, we will go to 80 during the day, 75 when we are home.

We set ours for 80. If I'm cooking or something, I may bump it down to 79 for a while.

76 when we are home and 78 at night, while we theoretically are out. I love the programable thermostat!

Mine is set to 78 during the day and 76 at night. If I didn't have ceiling fans, I wouldn't be able to stand it being that high!

Pre-baby we did 84 while we were out, no lower than 80 while we were home (we have inside dogs so cool for them while we're gone.) Post-baby we do 80 when we are out or asleep, 78 when we are home.

Ours is set to 78. Occasionally I will adjust it cooler in the mornings because it is too cool outside for the a/c to kick on, but it is unbearably humid.

Ours is at 78, but on the very hottest days or if I'm doing housework, I'll turn it down to 77.

Ours is set to 80, but we're mostly down in our newly finished basement where it's MUCH cooler so sometimes we don't even need to turn the AC on. The high outside is in the 90s too, so we save a lot energywise from just hanging out downstairs.

I don't turn the AC on during the day unless it is above 80 degrees inside the house. At night, we set the thermostat at 60-65 degrees (depending on how warm it is outside). We all like to sleep in cold temps.

77 for most of the day. 76 during dinner time because our kitchen is on the east side of the house and has a big bay window so the late afternoon sun bouncing off the light colored house next door can make that room unbearable (even with the blinds turned to the outside). Unless it is really humid, I will turn off the AC, open the windows and let the house get to 80-82 before I turn the AC back on.

Ours is at 78 most of the time. If it's really hot and I'm cooking I'll put it on 77. I've started putting it on 77 also when it's at the cooler parts of the day in the early morning and at night. That way it doesn't seem to run as hard. I'm ready for fall!

Thank goodness someone else likes a cooler house. I was feeling like the official crazy person and afraid to respond. We keep ours b/t 72-74 most of the time. We're home a lot (I'm a SAHM) and we honestly don't vary it much throughout the day

We have a programmable thermostat too - I love it. It's set for 78 during the day and 80 at night. We have ceiling fans that we use as well. This is the first year I've set the AC so high our electricity bill was a lot less last month. We have cool mornings, and the house doesn't heat up until after lunch, and then the outside temps cool by about 6pm. I open the windows to get a cross breeze when the outside temp cools down. DH hates having the house so high, so I try to cool it down before he comes home or he'll run the AC really low. I might put it on for a burst of cool air, but then I turn it off.

Ours is usually set at 78. If I am cooking something sometimes I put it down to 76.

76 all the time. Luckily, the AC doesn't kick in a lot due to how close we are to Lake Michigan. I like it a bit cooler.

We don't have AC. Most people in Flagstaff, AZ don't have AC. It was 78 for our high yesterday, but in the 40's at night. We open windows at night and close them in the morning... There are only a few days where it hits 90, so we don't really need AC.
Winter is another story, without heat it would be in the 40's in our house!

Ours is programable, and it varies between 75-78 degrees.

We only have room ACs so when we aren't home they are off and for the most part they are off at night. I have had them both set at 74, but only when it's really hot (over 90) do I turn them on. We usually leave the windows open. We keep our fans on 24 hrs. a day 7 days a week when it's warm out.

i'm glad to see a couple of people keep theirs around 74, which is where we keep ours. my mom thought it was set too low, which is what got me thinking about it. in the evenings i get cold so i bump it up to 76, but it's programmed to be at 74.

Um, "off". We don't have central A/C either.

g-mama

Honestly, I wouldn't mind having it below our usual 78, but our electric bill is already really expensive and that's the only reason I don't. It has sometimes gotten as high as $500/month in the summer so we try to control it. ($650+ for heat in Dec/Jan/Feb!)

78ish. we have a dual zone, so when we get up in the morning I move the upstairs thermostat to 80, and then go downstairs and will cool that down to about 77-78. And at night, we do the opposite basically (move the thermostat downstairs up a few degrees and then cool down the upstairs so we can sleep).

We do have A/C but haven't used it except for a couple days at the beginning of the season.

It also depends on where you live and what you are used to. We're in SoCal, so it is hot...today is 101 F. DH grew up in MI and is used to central air and heat. I grew up in a climate like Tampa Bay and no one had AC. My parents house didn't have ceiling fans either. So, I'm used to hot weather and dressing for it, using cold drinks, jumping under the sprinkler to cool off. DH complains and I tell him to change out of work jeans/dress shirt and he'll feel cooler.

72 in our old house. No central air in current house. Loved our old house with 2 units- upstairs and downstairs. We kept the ac/ off upstairs during the day.

My living room ceiling is vaulted, and I still installed a ceiling fan...it was pre-wired on a slanted part. It can be done, I swear!

78-80 downstairs (80 if we can stand it, but I'll turn it down to 78 if I'm dying hot...) 79 at night upstairs, 81 in the day up there (where only the kids go and other rooms are cooler than the room the thermostat is in...)
We have about 5000 sq feet and two huge units, if I put it any cooler than that our bill would be well over $300 a month (our neighbor's a/c's run nonstop, their bills are a good 400-500).
Lots of ceiling fans ;)

(I grew up in Hawaii--and Australia--with no A/C...and in the mountains there with no heat... so it's part of my nature to just deal with the temperatures, and I'd rather blow my money on more fun things, anyway, lol)

ugh. We set it at around 78 only because if we set it any lower it would run non-stop. It still gets into the mid 80s inside the house. We have no insulation, and older house, crappy windows, and live in a HOT climate. (yes, we need to fix the problem, can't do it right now).

We keep ours around 73 pretty regularly and when I get home from work I bump it down to 72 because I am dying. I would prefer to keep it lower (it is very VERY hot and humid here in SE Texas) but I don't want to pay for it to be lower. Even though we keep it at 73 pretty constantly our bill is very resonable.

Um, DH needs it really cold. 70 degrees when we're home. *sheepish smile* In my defense, I stopped nagging him about the AC temp after we installed a solar PV panel system so our electricity is self-generating.

There are days in the Winter our high is 20.....Our record low is 30 below. I am sure you aren't jealous of that! ;)
