I think the limit is more than 3 letters. It would be nice to be able to search for shorter things. Especially in the carseat forum, I'm often looking for HBB or RN or something that is unsearchable. Am I missing something?

I use Google when I need to. If you put "site:http://www.windsorpeak.com/vbulletin" in the search bar and then whatever terms you are looking for, it works pretty well.

Good idea. I'll try that.

Forgot I asked this question until today :).

Brilliant tip!

When I search using Google a very strange thing happens... Basically I think it takes the first post on each page and replicates it as the whole page. It's very strange. I have to say I'd love to see some changes made to the search features on this site specifically searching for short terms and having the ability to couple terms using operators like AND.

I'm sorry, I haven't had a chance to reindex the db yet to allow 3-word searches. (I need to take the site offline for at least several hours to do it.)

As far as AND, theoretically you should be able to do that already, though admittedly the search function can be a bit glitchy with regard to its operators.

Here's how it's supposed to work:

apple banana
Find rows that contain both words.

apple NOT banana
Find rows that contain apple but not banana.

apple*
Find rows that contain words such as “apple”, “apples”, “applesauce”, or “applet”.

"some words"
Find rows that contain the exact phrase “some words” (for example, rows that contain “some words of wisdom” but not “some noise words”).
