A friend of mine is throwing a party for her successful divorce this Saturday night. Any ideas on what I should bring?

You could bring the book "The Rules" which is the rules about dating. Is she going back to her maiden name? Maybe something with her 'new' name?

We did cartwheels going to a Cubs game for a friend, not a formal party.

Does she drink? Maybe a nice bottle of sparkling wine?

I'd bring something indulgent and consumable to share- wine, chocolate, cheese, fancy cupcakes, etc. It seems a little weird to bring a divorce "gift", KWIM?

Alcohol. It sounds like she may be blowing off some steam! :54:

A stuffed monkey. We call those parties "Dump the Chump" parties. :jammin:

Alcohol would be a good bet.

What is your budget?

$40 Veuve Cliquot Champagne (Brut)
$30 Piper Heidsieck Champagne (Brut)
$20 Mumm Napa Brut Prestige Sparkling Wine
$10 Tarantas Cava (Brut)

Nothing like celebrating with champagne (or sparkling wine)...

I would bring a vibrator.

(but my sense of humor is completely inappropriate.) :)

Depending on the state of mind your friend is in, you could bring Bitch and Evil wines.

I would just want to relax and spoil myself. So I think a gift certificate for a spa or pedicure. If you could go in with others and actually get her a spa day, that would be awesome.

That would be great! Too bad I'm not THAT good friends with her. It would be a little weird. I think I'll stick with the spa/manicure gift certificate. She's not really into wine/alcohol. Chocolates would be good too, but the gourmet chocolate place is closed for the day already and won't open until Sunday.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Jewelry? Bracelet or earrings would be good.

:hysterical:

My friends were actually talking about throwing me one of those "passion" parties when I confessed that I don't own a vibrator. I think it would be kind of fun, but I'm way too embarrassed about that stuff in front of other people, so I'm kind of glad they forgot about it. :p
