Thinking ahead here for b-day and holidays and I am stumped. We already own the things I would suggest- play house, picnic table, sand table, play kitchen, tricycle, musical instruments, art supplies, books, music, memberships to kid places...I am at a loss. I do have playsilks on my list since they come up here often and we don't have those. I am calling upon the excellent parents here to help me come up with something. I'm not ruling out duplicates if you happen to have a book that would be great, for example. There's always room for books and art supplies, imo. :) Thank you for any ideas!!

ball run- we have Discovery Toys Castle Marbleworks at it has been a hit since DS2's 1st Bday, still gets nearly daily play from both the boys and DS1 is 4.5 I drool over this one at hearthsong: http://www.hearthsong.com/product.asp?section_id=0&department=0&search_type=normal&search_value=ball&cur_index=2&pcode=2609

big wooden train- we had an amish made one when DS1 was 1. It was THE all time favorite toy for years. It reciently met a sad fate so I have been keeping an eye out for a new one for younger DS's to enjoy, just found this one today- it looks a bit more kid friendly then the one we had:

another vote for Magnatiles. I held off for a loooong time due to the price, but bought some w/ holiday money that was gifted to my kids last year. THey've gotten a LOT of play. DD was right around 2 when we got them and enjoyed them right away. My 5.5 year old still likes them too. We have 100 clears, but could honestly use another 100 easily because they build some awesome and elaborate stuff.

wedgits are nice.

The Starter set would be good for a 2 yr old. It doesn't have the smallest pieces that are in the other sets (making them appropriate for 3 and up.) I would skip the Wee Wedgits set since they are not compatible with the other sets.

Is 2 too young for an I-spy bag? That's on my wishlist for the girls....or maybe I'll go nuts and make some.
