We've been totally blessed for the past 8 weeks by a woman from our church. She was working in DS1's nursery room when I was dropping him off and talking to some friends about how hard things are midday at our house - feeding 2 toddlers, nursing/supplementing/pumping for the 4wk old, diapering all three for naptime, etc. She could sense I needed help and she offered to come to our house 11am-whenever until I was back on my feet or Sept., whichever came first. I'm close, so yesterday was her last day.

She rocked, fed, diapered, dressed, read to,snuggled with and listened to everyone. She was like our very own grandma. It was wonderful to have her help. She felt the call and followed it. I hope we have blessed her in some way.

She lives at a retirement community where everything is provided. She has no yardwork, her place is downsized from what I understand, and I just don't know what to get her to show her how much we appreciate her helping hands and love. Any ideas? She's pretty practical and non-showy. She's doing a bible study with some other ladies at the place she lives with her husband. Any ideas of a gift?

I mentioned Vera Bradley's site is having some really nice sales right now. How about an eyeglass case (if she wears them) http://www.verabradley.com/Site/Store/ProductDetail.aspx?Sku=242& or a little tote http://www.verabradley.com/Site/Store/ViewCategory.aspx?dept=400 ?
She has such a wide selections of items.

I know of a bookstore she might enjoy a gift card from, and we'll definitely do a great handwritten note with a painting from DC. thanks for your ideas!

I think something from the kids is great. Pottery place (another thread had this good idea) where older DC can paint something for her?

Or a pretty bookcover/case for her Bible? My mom has a lovely one that has an extra zip pocket for her pen, little notepad, etc. Looks kind of Vera-ish but I don't think it is. I'll have to ask her where she got it. But you sound pretty all set. I like the bookstore idea, too. Might have to steal that one for my thread! :)
