Okay, so there hasn't been a dslr question in a while ( at least I don't think so). I have a Nikon D-90 with an 18-55 lens that just isn't cutting it. There is not enough zoom for my liking. I want to be able to take it to Disney World and be able to take my kids pictures while they are riding dumbo in the air, that kind of thing. Also, with having a new baby soon I would like a much more powerful zoom. Dance, soccer games, you get the picture.

Any recommendations?

I have an 18-200 lens with image stabilization on my D300 and love it. I don't use any other lens (although I'd love to get a good macro).

I replaced my 18-55 with the 18-200 on my D40. It's awesome. :)

I admit I sometimes wish for more zoom, but the one I was considering was the 70-300 and I knew that changing out lenses was not for me. Like PP, a macro is on my wishlist. :)

I have the 18-200 lens also and love it! I think the Image Stabilization is a must too. The only downside is that it's kind of heavy and it is more bulky than the 18-55. Oh and because it's longer, it actually projects a shadow when I'm taking close up photos with the included flash (on my D40). But, those are the only downsides to it. It's fabulous at taking photos of anything. Close ups, far away things, even photos from a moving car.

I opted for the 55-200 VR and kept my 18-55, bought myself a super cute bag http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/default.asp?newsID=3086 and have been very happy with the set-up.

HTH

Edited to say that the 55-200 VR is much cheaper than the 18-200.

There's a new 18-200 coming out soon, but i think you're going to WDW soon?

We left our zoom lens at home when we just went to Disney!

This is the new one:
