My friend asked me (b/c she though I had them but I don't) if a preschooler would be able to open a funtainer/foogo food jar (I'm unclear if they're the same) on their own. Her DD is 4.5 y/o, and needs to have something she can handle by herself at preschool. I said I didn't know but I would ask the boards!

These are the containers I mean:

Gwen is 6 and she usually needs help to open her Funtainer food jar. We do close it snugly, though, since we're often putting semi-runny things in it.

When I have lunch duty (K-2) most kids need help with them.

DS1 is 6 and can't open his foogo container himself either. He has low upper body muscle tone though, so I thought that was the reason. I usually don't put watery food in the container, so I've started to not closing it snugly so he can be independent and open it himself.

ETA: I just realized that our container is not the foogo one but this one with a black cover. (http://www.thermos.com/Product_detail.aspx?CatCode=THER&SubcategoryID=2&ProductID=292) I got mixed up because we have foogo straw cups.
