We just moved into our new house and have a challenging stairway gate situation. It's hard to explain but the split level stairway has a complex configuration so we've are having a hard time figuring out how to block it off from DD. She is pretty good at going up but hasn't grasped the concept of going down yet. I saw this gate and I think that it would work but I have a dim memory that these types of gates had some sort of safety issue associated with them.

We were told in our Infant/CPR and safety class that older accordian-style gates made before 1985 are not safe, but the newer ones are fine.

Thanks so much. I was dreading the hours of searching I would have to do it this wasn't an option.

The Kidco G80 is a reliable gate for stairways that seem challenging. It is available with extensions to make it as wide as you need. :bighand:
