Do unopened markers dry out?

I bought a ton of Crayola Pipsqueak marker sets when they were on sale at TRU. I was going to use them for party favors but we're doing something else so I was going to hang onto them and use them next year. Does anyone happen to know if these markers will stay "fresh"? Do they dry out even if unopened?

The markers should still be good next year. We've been using markers that were "opened" several years ago and they're still fine.
