I am thinking of getting a spare HBB for DS1 since he's getting to the playdate age, just in case he needs to ride with a friend. Something easy to use correctly.

He's 42.5" and about 40-41 lbs right now. He'll be 5 in November. I am sure he can sit correctly in a booster for short trips, but I don't want him in one for long trips.

I've been looking at the Clek seat, the SK Monterey, and the new Britax...

The Monterey is just hugely bulky and you would probably not want to be popping it in and out of other cars. The Clek is small but I hear it's super heavy. The Parkway SG is light, easy to move, and has the SG crotch strap that can make it a bit harder to use, but potentially safer by preventing submarining, so it's probably what I'd choose if those were my top carpool choices. (They are all fantastically safe and have nice tall backs to last a long time and become backless boosters later, too).

I have the original Parkway for my DS, who is about to turn 5, to use for field trips and playdates.
