I am finishing up baby's fairly small nursery. I have some space under a window I would like to utilize for storage. This storage bench from Ikea will fit perfectly and match the room. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00091463

However, the window above it has faux wood blinds with a cord. I plan on taking every precaution to keep the cord out of baby's reach. I will either wind it on a hook or use the plastic winders. But I still think it might not be ideal to have a way for baby to reach up to the window when he gets older.

Our house is a ranch so my only concern is this cord. And it's a brand new blind that I don't want to replace.

I use these in my kids' room.

I keep them all the way up at the top of the window. I have to really reach for them, but since they retract and spit out as much as you need they are never within reach for the little ones. HTH!

windowcoverings.org you get free window covering here...all you have to do is answer few questions about what year your blinds are made and how many do you need and they will mail you the covering for free.

I just found out about them thought I would share. Hope it helps.
