We have the Ikea expedit in ds's room: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00071356 . I really wanted to get the branas baskets to use to store smaller stuff but the closest Ikea is 6 hours away and we will not be going there any time soon. And all the clutter in his room is driving me NUTS! What other options are out there that would look okay in a boys room? I would prefer a square container vs. a rectangular one since the "cubbies" in the expedit are square shaped, 13 x 13 I think. I am wanting about 5-6 containers, the other cubbies hold books, bigger items, etc. that don't need to be in a container. TIA!

I used the Koala Baby brand of square containers that are collapsible from BRU. It comes in diff. colors, but I have it in this color:

Target has some too -
search for storage box (then click on the button for $0 - $24)

I use Sterilite Ultra Storage boxes in the second to biggest size. They are white, nice durable plastic with decorative holes all over (very small - even a barbie shoe would be unlikely to come out one.) The boxes used to be commonplace at Walmart for about $6. You can use Krylon Fusion spray paint, specially made for plastic, to spray paint them a variety of colors. I've done it several times and it turns out well.

I was on a huge hunt for storage boxes for Expedit a few years and still tend to size up likely looking containers. It is hard to find the right size, espeially if want to spend $10 or less. I also noiced that the Koala babyoxes at Babis R Us wouldfit. I've also seen oorfl baskts at World Market, Target and Michael' on rare ocasions. he boxes are usually made of kind of a bumpy burlap/canvas type material at World Market and of woven bright platic strips at Target.

Oh, and Bed Bath and Beyond might have some sandard woven baskets that would work, kind of expensive though. I once got a a thin canvas box stretched over a wire frame at BBB that fits well, but it appears to no loger be available. Something similar is available, but the size is slightly off.

We have the expedit entertainment center in our living room. we have http://www.target.com/Fabric-Storage-Bin-Dark-Large/dp/B0015E7RMY/ref=br_1_3?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=677487011&node=677487011&searchRank=salesrank&searchPage=2&searchSize=30&id=Fabric%20Storage%20Bin%20Dark%20Large on the bottom shelves to store DS toys/books. It's a snug snug fit, so it severes double duty, the cubbies we don't want him in we turned the boxes so the handle doesn't show. ones he can access have the handles.
