I just don't think dressing a baby up as a plate of food is "tasteful"... But to each their own I guess.

:barf: Martha has definitely reached crack-pot status.

Umm, yeah. Not at all cute. Can't imagine paying money to put my child in these.

I could see these as part of a theme costume set (older brother pilgrim, younger sister is turkey). Bt they could have at least had smiling babies in the photos.

It's the plate part that is so strange. A turkey? A lobster? Fine. On a plate complete with garnish stolen from Great Aunt Betsy's cheesy cheap artificial centerpieces? Just so not...appealing.

I wouldn't pay good money for them, but I think they're kinda funny. Then again, I liked the creepy baby-hand soap, too.

Um, no thanks.
Dressing a baby up as a (live) lobster I'm o.k. with, but not as a dead one on a platter.

I think they're really disturbing. Anne Geddes she's not. I go thru peaks and valleys of kind of liking Martha. Just last week I liked her for her Halloween line of scrapbook supplies. This week we're back in a valley. Deeeeep.

Meh. They're not great, but they don't bother me.

This is what bothers me. The attempt to turn the costumes into food items that are being served, i.e. eaten, very disturbing.

That is definitely creepy. Especially the turkey. I don't know why, but it's just not right! Maybe it's because the babies don't look so happy.

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't mind the dressing up like food (I seem to remember some cute french fries & a hot dog costume from PBK in the past)....but I really don't need to visualize eating them which is what the plate & garnish do!

Um, ew.
Although it could be sort of "frugal" to use the turkey one what with Thanksgiving right around the corner...
But yeah. They're creepy.
ETA: I just showed this to DH. His facial response was indescribable. He said, "That's a joke, right?" When I told him no, they were from Martha Stewart, all he could do is start singing "She's nuts! She's nuts! She's nuts!"

I've seen the lobster. The pie is just weird. The turkey is just wrong.

I just showed them to DH and he said the turkey reminded him of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer keeps putting butter on his burnt skin and Newman keeps seeing him as a turkey with Kramer's head on top... He's right .. it does look like that ....

:ROTFLMAO:
Not a fan of the Martha costumes. Something about them...the staging maybe or the kid expressions makes the whole thing even more "off" IMO.
eta: is that supposed to be a cake knife/server next to the baby dressed as a pie? That staging is weird! Thank goodness there is no carving knife right next to (or stuck in) the turkey.

Okay, that's just yucky. Esp. since the costumes look a little too authentic.

Sorry, Martha, but it is NOT a good thing. The baby in the turkey looks terrified.

I definitely wouldn't buy them but I don't have a problem with them either. They certainly could've done a better job with the pictures. Different background and happy babies might have helped. I guess I don't get why the plating of the "food" bothered people who otherwise liked food themed costumes.

They are in bad taste, if I dare make the obvious joke.
But the turkey one was kind of funny.

To me the plating and garnish turns them from "weird but funny" to "weird and creepy"

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
I'm OK with food costumes in general - DD1 was a pumpkin for her first Halloween and DD2 went as a banana last year (because DD1 was a monkey!) - but not really so much OK with food that looks like it's about to be eaten!

I thought so too - but I looked them up on the website myself. I'm not a huge martha fan anyway, but I thought she had higher standards than this!

I thought the same thing, so I went to the website and there they were!http://www.marthastewart.com/article/more-halloween-baby-costumes?&backto=true&backtourl=/photogallery/baby-costumes?#slide_3 Those 3 costumes were sent in by a viewer. So, not Martha originals, but weird that she would agree to put them on her site. If you look at the other costumes, most are really cute AND appropriate.
ETA: Nikki and I posted at the same time - we both had to look!

Creepy. weird.
Speaking of inappropriate costumes, why can you buy a French Maid's costume on eBay in size 4T? Or Playboy bunny? UGH!

Lol, they are creepy and weird, and I have to laugh, b/c MS is such a foodie, those costumes make it look like she wants to eat babies or something.
Must be a trend . . . .I think it was the editor of a Parents magazine I saw last week wishing she had an infant to dress in their sushi costume.
It's not a trend we'll be following in this home.
