I've read tons of good things about the Nilo table and was set to order one for Christmas for my girls. Then I started thinking about the lip around the table and second guessed myself. While they may use this for trains, I see them using it more for arts & crafts, doll houses, blocks etc.
So, do you think the lip on the table is really necessary and would it just interfere with arts & crafts? I like the Nilo for the rave reviews on quality and love that the girls will be able to sit at it with chairs and that the height can be changed with the higher legs. All that said, Land of Nod also has a height adjustable table and it has no lip around the edge AND I can get the paper roll holder for it.
I am afraid to make a $$$ mistake here! What are your BTDT thoughts?

We have the Nilo and love it. I don't see the lip as a problem (think rolling markers, crayons etc!). Plus they have an accessory that attaches to one end of the table that is a puppet theater/easel and has a paper roll too. I don't know anything about the Land of Nod table though. I got the Nilo for around $150 last year and we've been really pleased. HTH!

Another Nilo fan here too. The lip does not interfere at all. As PP said it prevents crayons and pencils from rolling off the table. We also have the puppet theater arts theasel.

Nilo rocks. The lip is just enough to keep a train on the table or a rolling marker but not enough to bother you while drawing etc.
