All you wise parents, I need advice...

DC just started Kindergarten in a large public school. She has her teacher, then there's a full-time para (assigned to a specific student), a part-time para (assigned to a specific student, and four or more "specials" teachers (art, music, gym, ect). I know the class will be doing a gift (as room parent, I like this idea), but wanted to give the teachers a little something as well. I guess I don't know who to include: Definitely the teacher, probably at least the full time para, maybe the part time para, what about the specials teachers?

The para's are assigned to a student, but work with the entire class...

Last year in preschool, DC has SEVEN teachers and that got completely out of control. What do you think I should do this year?

Last year I organized the class gifts b/c I was the room parent. Everyone chipped in and we bought gift cards for the teacher, the aide and all the specials. I didn't do anything else for the aide or the specials but ds made his main teacher some cookies (I knew that she was a cookie fan ahead of time). Most people did not do anything extra for the teachers beyond the class gift.

I did small gifts ($7-$10) to the teacher and aide who worked with the whole class. Nothing to an aide that was assigned to a specific student. I also included the specials teachers that DS loved (so art and music, but not gym) and the reading specialist that helped both DC.

At our school, some of the teachers have issues with homemade food (to the point of being rude about it), so I avoid any treats/food as gifts as a general rule.

Thank you for your responses. I have small things set aside for the teachers, but I think I may just go with the Class Gift and, hopefully, have DC make necklaces for the teachers. We've done that in the past and they've been well received...

Maybe you could have your dc make each a special card and then you can buy breakfast, bagels/coffee or a gc to dunkin donuts...

A card is a great idea, except DC is not one to draw or color...
