Toys R Us has several Lego sets on sale at 30% off this week. I am planning to stop by the store to check out selection. Is this a good discount or have you found better ones? If you did, please do share where. DS has a birthday at the end of November and I am thinking of getting him more Lego.

It's a good discount if the TRU price is the same as Lego's retail price. TRU prices are higher on some of the sets so you have to compare the ones you're looking at. Target and Walmart's prices are slightly lower than TRU but they probably do not have as much selection.

There is a Lego City helicopter set at Costco for around $28. Retail is $40. I think it's this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013V2UXU. Mine is stashed away in the basement already.

:yeahthat: Lego.com also has free shipping right now if you spend over $100, so that may be an option of the TRU prices are higher. I know at my local TRU, some prices are the same as Legoshop, but others are 30% higher. However that is due to shipping so it may be different for you if you are in the Continental US.

The only other time I have seen it for a bigger discount is basically if it is on clearance. Last time I bought legos at TRU it was their B2G1F deal, which came out to about 30% off if you got 3 kits about the same price.

At least at our Costco, this is the Lego set: <http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002B9OVI0>

They also now have the anniversary Battle of Endor set for ~$79. <http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Star-Wars-Battle-Endor/dp/B001US29I2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1255241830&sr=1-1>

I'll have to check out our Costco. Last time I was there, about 3-4 days ago, I dlid not notice any Lego sets but, than again, I was not really looking for them. Thankfully, we are less than 2 miles away from Costco so I could just pop in for a look.

DS and I stopped by TRU to have a look at the Lego selection on sale and we were not impressed. The only set DS liked was from their Pirate collection for $79.99 plus tax before 30% off discount and I just don't want to get him any more pirate stuff or spend that kind of money. Turns out I like City collection and DS fell in love with the mining trucks and drilling machines.

Our TRU had all Lego on 15% sale through 10/10/09.

I have never made out the rhyme and reason to Lego pricing. It's often priced over MSRP and availability of sets is so different from store to store. The biggest discounts we have ever scored were at the Lego store on their clearance rack.

Yes, that's the one. All I remember was helicopter and the color orange.
