Airing out/off gassing carseats?

I just bought a new seat, and awhile ago I read that you should leave them out to air out a bit before using. How long is good for this?

Anyone remember the site that rates toxicity.

I guess I'd leave it out for a day or two... I don't remember the site, but as long as the seat's not grossly stinky, I wouldn't be worried about putting my kid in it, especially if they don't normally have respiratory or skin issues.
