DS1 had a runny nose and just started coughing. He is scheduled to get the flu mist tomorrow. Can he still get it if he has a runny nose? Should he?

I usually never get shots if they are sick but don't know if that is different.

I am pretty sure, you should not.... Pretty sure, but not 100%...

NO! If he is currently having any respiratory illness, you do not want to use the flu mist. It is a live virus that gets administered via the respiratory system, so if he is already fighting one respiratory illness, don't knowingly expose him to another. Either wait til his cold has passed and get flu mist or wait for the shot. I am pretty sure that they won't even give the vax if dc is sick.

ETA: I did get the flu mist for my DD last week.

No child should get any vaccine if they are sick.

He cannot get FluMist with a runny nose.

Yea, I didn't think so but I wasn't sure if I was over-reacting or not. We do vax, but I never get vax if they are sick. I don't know why I thought maybe this was different but I canceled his appt.
